FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR RESEARCHERS

A PDC project - "Research to Policy - Building a Sustainable Network in the Field of Health in Vietnam" (VNNH) had been funded by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) to HMU since March 2011. The main objective of the project is strengthening capacity for research leading to evidence based health policy recommendations and encourages collaboration between researchers, policy makers, civil society and innovators.

In order to facilitate individual Vietnamese researchers or research groups to write research grant proposals in the field of health, we are please to announce a number of financial support opportunities that are provided under the VNNH project.

 

1. Financial support for post-doctoral positions (researchers with PhD degree)  - Maximum USD2,000 each proposal

-          The selected post-doctoral researchers to establish research groups to develop research ideas and lead the group in writing grant proposals. .

-          The minimum requested grant mentioned in the proposal is USD50,000 

-          There are 4 stipends for post-doctoral positions that are available until 31st March 2013.

-          Proposals can be in any areas related to health.

-          The selection will be based on the research proposal as well as research PI experience.

-          The first deadline is 15 August 2012. Applications can also be submitted later but please check with the grant office regarding available grants. 

 

2. Financial support for PhD registration – Maximum USD1,000 each allowance plus a returned international air-ticket (if needed).

-          For PhD registration at VNNH’s collaborating institutions including (i) Karolinska Institutet; (ii) University of Gothenburg (Sweden); (iii) Oxford University Clinical Research Unit (Vietnam)

-          PhD candidates are required to have two supervisors, one is Vietnamese and the other is from each above International Collaboration institutions.

-          3 positions will be supported

-          The first deadline is 15 August 2012. Applications can also be submitted later but please check with the grant office regarding available grants.

-          Available until 31st March 2012

 

3. Financial support for other researchers – Maximum USD1,000 each proposal

-          The minimum requested grant mentioned in the proposal is USD10,000 per proposal

-          The first deadline is 15 August 2012. Applications can also be submitted later but please check with the grant office regarding available grants.

-          5 proposals would be accepted in total and available until 31st March 2013

 

Instructions for applicants:

-          The applicants should first submit an application form and their proposal (and confirmation letter from two supervisors if register for PhD) to the Grant Office at HMU or UMP HCMC

-          Applicants can ask for support from Grant Office at HMU or UMP HCMC regarding (i) information of potential research funding opportunities; (ii reviewing and completing the application in accordance with the instruction of the donors; (iii) submitting application and following up after submission.

-          The application forms and proposals will be reviewed and evaluated every two months by an evaluation Committee.

-          Proposals applying for funding from international donors must be submitted from HMU or in collaboration with at least one of PDC partner institutions including (i) University of Medicine and Pharmacy HCMC, (ii) University of Gothenburg (Sweden); (iii) Karolinska Institutet (Sweden); (iv) Oxford University Clinical Research Unit, Vietnam; (v) Ministry of Health, Vietnam.

-          Applicants can write proposals to submit for domestic funding. However, Vietnamese proposals will get a half financial support compare to English one.

-          Successful applicants will receive their stipends after the application is submitted through Grant Office with evidence shown.
